Savannah Kulla Obituary: Mother of 4 Fatally Shot in Brampton Plaza Parking Lot

Brampton, Ontario – Heartbreak has struck the Brampton community following the tragic death of 29-year-old Savannah Kulla, a devoted mother of four who was fatally shot in a plaza parking lot on Tuesday afternoon.

Victim Identified as Mother of Four

Family members have identified the victim as Savannah Kulla, describing her as a loving mother and caring friend who devoted her life to her children — three boys and a one-year-old daughter.

Following the shooting, an Amber Alert was issued for Kulla’s one-year-old daughter, who was allegedly taken by her father, 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper. Peel Regional Police said the infant was located safely a short time later after being dropped off with relatives in the Niagara Region.

Suspect Dies After Police Interaction

Investigators confirmed that Anthony Deschepper, who was identified as the primary suspect in Kulla’s murder, died early Wednesday morning after an interaction with police officers at a gas station in Niagara Falls.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death. A second woman who was driving the vehicle with Deschepper at the time is now facing pending charges, according to the SIU.

Community in Mourning

The deadly shooting occurred near Queen Street East and Airport Road, where police responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

In the hours following the tragedy, bouquets of flowers and handwritten notes began to appear near the scene as friends, neighbors, and strangers paid tribute to Savannah’s life. The community continues to mourn the loss of a young mother whose future was taken far too soon.

Peel Regional Police have classified the case as an intimate partner-related homicide — the tenth murder in Peel Region so far this year.

Remembering Savannah Kulla

Loved ones describe Savannah Kulla as a bright, compassionate woman who devoted everything to her children. Friends say her smile and warmth touched everyone she met.

“She was a loving mother and a wonderful friend,” one relative said. “She deserved so much more — and we will make sure her story is not forgotten.”

Support services and domestic violence resources have been made available to families in the area as the investigation continues.

Police Appeal for Information

Peel Regional Police are urging anyone with information or witnesses who may have video footage from the plaza parking lot to contact the Homicide Bureau or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
